Creativity & Innovation Training Workshops
Structured Innovation & Creative Problem Solving
This is a highly interactive, hands-on workshop that instructs participants in the Creative Problem Solving (CPS) method and grounds participants in the basic principles of creative/innovative thinking. Participants work through a structured methodology using a case study. The workshop will improve individuals or groups abilities in doing effective research, problem/opportunity reframing, brainstorming, idea enhancement and acceptance, and action planning.
Depending on whether the client chooses a
short introduction or a longer format course, participants will get more or less
practice in using CPS on real and current work challenges.
This course can also be delivered
virtually, and over several sessions, allowing more thought time between steps
in the process. This is highly suggested when clients want to work on a
real problem.
Running time: approximately 3 to 5 hours for an introductory course, or a comprehensive 2 1/2 day immersion.
Virtual sessions are done with 6 one-hour sessions using web-based tools and
conference calls.
Tools & Techniques for Problem Solving & Ideation

It assumes familiarity with the basics of structured creativity (which they may acquire by taking the Innovation and Creative Problem Solving workshop, or by taking the "Springboard" workshop at the Creative Problem Solving Institute).
Before getting into specific tools and techniques, a grounding in use of tools
and tool design is provided.
Techniques covered include: Post-It Note
Brainstorming, Brain-writing, Clustering, Convergence/Voting Tools, Idea
Building tools such as "PPCO" (Positives, Potentials, Concerns, and Overcoming
Concerns), use of music, use of props and toys, Forced Connections, and basic
Energizers. Time permitting more advanced tools such as Mind Mapping, graphic
facilitation, and "Innovisation" tools (use of
comedy improvisation games adapted to innovation.
Gregg has a list of tools a mile long and is happy to discuss with your
organization which tools and techniques are most appropriate to include.
Running time: 2 to Full 8 hour day, customized to client needs.
Ideation/Brainstorming Facilitation Training
Ideation facilitation is an important
skill to develop in-house at your organization. It's a specialized
capability and those that invest in empowering innovation teams with this
capability see many returns. Ideation is done best by those who do a lot of it,
and practice is enhanced with the proper guidance.
Included here are mindset required,
goal/objective setting, techniques for managing groups during brainstorming,
scribing/data management, and most importantly ideation design.
This training requires a small group of 5
to 10 to act as the participants in order for facilitators to have "live"
experience.
Gregg Fraley has been teaching
facilitation skills for over 15 years and is a highly experienced practitioner.
He can transfer his experience to your organization and enhance your ability to
do innovation without outside assistance.
Running time: Full 8 hour day.
